We’re Excited You Want to Come Use the Trails!
Please take the time to read the following so you’ll have the best experience possible.
Getting There: Search “Standing Boy Trails” in googlemaps. After you turn west onto Old River Road and cross Standing Boy Creek, there will be a gravel road on your left. After you turn onto it, the parking area will be obvious.
Parking Fee: The property is on State Park’s Park Pass model. Please pay the $5 daily fee (collection box on the lot) or purchase an annual Parks Pass (which will work for all State Parks) for $50. However, for an indefinite amount of time, you will not be ticketed if you have a hunting or fishing license or a Lands Pass. However, we encourage you to support State Parks.
2021-2022 Hunting: Small game (small caliber firearms allowed) through February 28 and deer (archery only) through January 9th. Quota hunts for Turkey from April 9-15, 16-22, and 23-29.
This year and going forward, the trails are not closed until 10:00 AM during deer season. Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. r. 391-4-2-.70. Regular trail hours apply. Please be very gracious with any hunters who say otherwise. This is the right decision for our community and region, but that doesn’t mean it’s not disappointing to the deer hunters.
Trails:
- Please carefully consult the Trail Map and Trail Rules. We don’t like rules either, but we’ve got to have some in order to keep the trails in good shape and manage them successfully.
- We strongly encourage the use of TrailForks of MTB Project for navigation. QR codes on the trail map.
We are working to make sure All Trails has good information as well. - We are working on signage for the hiking trails.

- Please check the Trail Status before you head out. When the trails are closed, the gate is closed. However, we still need you to use good judgement.
- We don’t don’t wake up at 4:50 to check overnight rainfall and close the trails. If it rained a lot overnight, we probably just haven’t had a chance to close them yet.
- We are not going to close the trails after every popup shower, especially during the summer. That would be annoying for us and for y’all. To avoid that, we just need y’all to help us by giving the trails a few hours to dry before you head out.
- If you’re on the trails and think we’ve miscalculated by opening the trails when they should be closed, please get off and let us know ASAP.
